Bathe with the Devil

Something evil hides in the icy cold pools of hell. Surly, it’s just a tall tale concocted by the Lakota Sioux to protect something….precious!

Winters’ touch slowly kills everyone it caresses with a deathly chill one kiss at a time. Truly, Hell isn’t lakes of fire…it’s the absence of all warm. Death eternally cold.

The Black Hills of the Dakota’s hide so much that there are rumors of the devil himself, enjoying its beauty. Some tell the tale of a soulless demon, who bathes in the icy waters of winter in Spear Fish Canyon.

But what you’re interested in are the stories of tainted, but invaluable trinkets he leaves behind for those willing to bathe in the pools of ice with him, and claim their rewards.

Surely though, it’s all just lies from the Lakota Sioux, to keep less brave explorers from discovering the real wealth that is hidden there.

Sounds like a fun Saturday adventure, with the first snowflakes just now dusting the ground.

Choose your adventurer and let’s discover the truth together!

I’ve written this adventure for Expedition Deadwood 2021, in Deadwood, South Dakota, to celebrate 25 years of Deadlands! It’s also an opportunity to highlight an area that I was raised and spent more of my youth enjoying the wilderness and tales from my Lakota family and friends, and those of my Norwegian and Danish grand parents who helped settle the Dakota Territory.
